Lanwades Hall and St Margaret’s Church Hemingford Abbots for Sarah & Wills wedding.

Sarah & Will’s wedding day had been postponed twice already, due to the dreaded covid, so it was wonderful to finally have the go ahead, as venues were permitted to open up.

Their ceremony took place at St Margaret’s Church Hemingford Abbots. Some lovely floral displays lined the aisle, created by Heidi Appleyard, who also made the bouquets & buttonholes.

Sarah looked absolutely beautiful in her dress and long veil, supplied by Burr Bridal Dress shop, who also made the bridesmaids pretty pale green dresses. Sarah’s long hair & makeup look were skillfully prepared by Izzy Wild Hair & Makeup.

It was a really lovely ceremony. Music is an important passion for the couple, so it was extra special that friends were able to perform. The organist, choir and conductor had travelled far and wide to be there. Will couldn’t resist joining in with a fine percussive contribution, in the final hymn.

Following some group photos in the church grounds, it was off to Lanwades Hall for the reception party. Drinks and canapés were served on the terrace, which looks down onto the splendid lawn and walled gardens below.

The wedding banquet was truly delicious, all created by The Cambridge Dining Company (CDC). I vouch for them myself, having been kindly fed in style ! The tables were decorated with more flowers by Heidi Appleyard and the exquisite hand paintings of locations around the world, done by Sarah’s sister. A hearty meal, speeches and much laughter was enjoyed by all.

Lanwades Hall is a superb wedding venue, with plenty of old character and style with its paneled interiors, sitting rooms and main function suite. The extensive grounds are fantastic as well, beyond the walled garden, are meadows and further lawns. I enjoyed exploring the multiple photo spots with Sarah & Will on a walkabout, after dinner. Not the warmest of summer days, but they did really well to stay relaxed and comfortable.

More music supplied by friends outside on the lower lawn. Some croquet, general relaxation and a pretty competitive gambling card game indoors.

A beautiful combination of large cake & petite cupcakes , were on display, all lovingly made by the bride & groom’s mothers.

Such a fantastic wedding at Landwades Hall. Sarah & Will’s full wedding can be seen in their private gallery.
