Wonderful views & sun blessed outdoor ceremony, at this Barnsdale Hall Hotel Wedding, in Rutland.

This venue is wonderfully situated, on a hill next to Rutland Water. Wez & Laura had selected an outdoor ceremony, which offers the wonderful backdrop views of the reservoir and Rutland countryside. It was quite fresh and breezy, but the showers that had previously been forecast, didn’t happen – phew!

I started shooting with Wez & his best man, before the ceremony. Wez was quite nervous, but looked great – loved his suit, matching the best man’s waistcoat. Guests started to arrive and took their seats outside in the sun. Laura pulled up in a hotel golf buggy, no golf clubs – but she did have a driver though !! (ho ho). She looked lovely, as did her bridesmaids and v cute kiddies. I liked the way each grown up bridesmaid walked down the ‘aisle’, with a child in hand – nice touch.

Laura’s dad brought her safely to Wez’ side and the ceremony got underway. It was super nice to be able to shoot from various angles, outside in the great light. Vows and 2 rings exchanged, with a hefty couple paperweights keeping the essential paperwork in place (not ideal if anything had blown away). Groom kisses bride to a standing ovation – yay!

Then time for alfresco drinks served on the lawn and some happy group photos, while the kids able to charge about freely and hide in bushes etc. We did suddenly get a heavy shower, so all dashed inside for 15 mins and then the sun came out again. Confetti had been on hold until the showers had past (other wise could have been more like paper mache). So once conditions were good again, it was thrown from one wind-assisted side of the line up.

The dining room looked amazing with nice lights and drapes, as well as decorations. Speeches were done after the meal and gifts distributed to bridesmaids and flower girl & page boy. With the sun lower in the sky, it was ideal light for some scenic shots of the couple with the Resi in the background – so nice.

The evening party was building up, with a spectacular laser lighting display by the DJ. One of the best I’ve seen. Cake was moved to be in the dance floor and lit by said lasers. Once Wez & Laura had cut it, it was moved aside ready for their first dance. They were soon joined by friends and family. The evening was topped off with a really stunning firework display. Amazing! High, high into the night sky, must have been seen for miles.

What a fantastic Barnsdale Hall Hotel Wedding and I look forward to shooting more weddings at this fabulous spot.
