A Rutland Water wedding, at Normanton Church, right on the edge of the reservoir , is a spectacular place to get married, at any time. For Sarah & Will’s late afternoon ceremony in wind-blown February, it had an extra atmospheric factor with the clear, blueish winter light.
Rutland Water is a special place for Sarah & Will, because they spent time here together, whilst they were students at Leicester. So, it was a fitting place to gather for their ceremony, with friends and families travelling from all around, to be there.
Did I mention the chill factor? Being a bit of a weather geek, I noted when setting off, that with the strong northerly winds, the actual temperature was further reduced to minus 7 degrees. However, did that slight issue cool any wedding spirits?
Well, as the bridesmaids stepped out in their lovely blue, strapless dresses, clearly not. Plenty of laughter and anticipation. Few photos out of the wind and Sarah arrived, also not appearing to be bothered by any slight chill in the air and looking gorgeous for her wedding.
Inside the candle lit Normanton Church, temperatures were lovely and warm. It was a touching ceremony with readings by relatives and then Will’s 2 brothers giving some great guitar pieces.
Our bride bravely faced the cold outside (groom was suited up) for some ‘artistic romantic shots’ ( I didn’t force her to, honest !). Lo and behold, this wonderful setting sun appeared from the grey skies, to give a warm evening glow, absolutely gorgeous.
Exton Village hall was the place for the reception and a fantastic party got underway. Fine ales, wines and canapes. Scrummy looking homemade cakes on the side. Quirky table names of some fine bands. Sarah’s sister had taken care of the pretty floral designs, including the bouquets and button holes.
I slipped off before the dinner started and I’m sure everyone celebrated in style. What a lovely Rutland Water wedding day.
